Alexander Wang F/W 2012: QuickReview

Alexander Wang is always bringing his A*game
I honestly dont think he can do less than perfect.
If you go to his show expect to see structure, clean
lines, new age garments, A little white, a lot of black, & his best.
He sent his squadron of amazons (Including Gisele, Suvi, and Carmen!)
down the runway and off to war on the runway of Fashion Week.
Knee high boots, glossy jackets, fishnet mask.. felt sort
of like post apocalyptic high fashion.

Some have tried, but none have succeeded at doing
just enough of "To much" to still stay Chic.
Its hard, but Mr. Wang has conquered the runway enough
times that shows it is possible.
He made it possible.

Check out the bag.
Yeah, I want it too.
Classic.

It has been said that watching a Wang show
is could be simalar to watching Dali reveal his artistry,
a Genius play chess, Venus play tennis, or Tiger golf.
There is nothing like it.

PREEN F/W 2012: QuickReview.

Can PREEN Designers Junstin Thorton and Thea Bregazzi do
any wrong? No. Atleast not in my eyes.
Fashion shows tell a story. I would hate for someone to
want to wear my designs, but have no care for the story they are
telling as they walk down the street promoting my name.
Everytime I see fashion I wonder what the designers
thoughts were as they were creating: What were their feelings.
Justin and Thea chose children's author Beatrix Potter
as slight inspiration for their F/W line, but I think it was more
then the books/author that inspired them.
I believe it was childhood itself that inspired the patterns, colors,
and towering heals before your eyes.

When you imagine your Autumn days as
a child what comes to mind?

I think of the orange, green, and brown midwestern
Fall leaves brushing past my feet. Standing on my tip-toes
trying to catch that glow bug but never reaching.
My mothers fur, and my last days without a heavy coat!
I see all of these things in this collection, but
then again that just me.

After the leaves have brushed into the street and the temp
has droped below comfort weather; The sky gets dark
and so do our clothes because winter has come once more.

Those shoes are to die for correct?
Well they're all a part of the PREEN
collection at ALDO.
The Preen show is one of my favorites every year
for a reason; I hate dissapointment.
PREEN never dissapoints.

AlleyArt Chicago: Neo

So, JaJa, this Fabulous girl named Lauren
(yeah, I'm trying to bring "fabulous" back),
and I went to NEO in Chicago's Lincoln Park.
Inside was OKay.. but idk if it was the malt liquor
I chugged minutes before, the fact that it was almost 5am or the overwhelming
amount of leather everyone was wearing but I found myself standing outside
A lot admiring the art.

Seriously, finding artistic gems hiding away in this
city I love so much just brings to mind childhood memories
and for some reason "The Wizard of Oz" because after all...

"There is no place like home."

All photos were obviously taken on my cell phone.

Celeb Street Style: R.K. Follese

Some may and some may not know who Hot Chelle Rae is.
Those who don't have no idea who Ryan Keith Follese is,
but those of you who know of the band have surely noticed the
lead singer of hits like "Tonight, Tonight" and "I like it like that"('s)
well put together style.

R.K's style to me is so Hipster 2.0.
He wears a lot of things that can fit easily into the
hipster category in the style manual, but with a almost
unapologetic sexual ENGLISH edge to it.

And my god the boy knows how to find the right pair of jeans
and knows how to choose all the right accessories to bring
his well thought out (but never forced) look to reality.
Don't get me wrong I love a great stylist but I love
when someone knows what they want to wear and what they look
good in and they find a middle ground by themselves.

I genuinely think that men of our generation are
somewhat afraid of fashion. Obviously not in a literal way,
but afraid to take chances with their style. Which is
actually insane to me seeing as though most of
the lines between male and female fashion have been
erased. We live in such an androgynous world; Its time to
take chances. Just like the über stylish R.K!

Do you like Ryan's style?
If so, guys take notes, and more chances.

Designers You Should Know: Jessica Lovely

Fashion Designer is one of the hardest jobs to have
in todays world believe it or not. Some statistics say
it's an 8/10,000 chance of becoming a known/succesful
designer in this very competitive industry. That is why we need
to support designers who truely have the "it" factor, and arent
studying fashion just because they watched Sex in the City & now envy
whomever got to dress and/or style SJP and the girls that day.
This designer has the "it" factor, and this is me giving my support.

Jessica Lovely

Star of The Emmy Nominated
"So you wanna be a designer" Jessica Lovely, or simply
Lovely as most of her friends & family call
her could have easily become a model herself; But her
heart was behind a sewing machine & not on the runway wearing the
beautiful garments she constructs so effortlessly every season.

I met Lovely a few years back through JaJa Galliano, and I am honestly
not over exaggerating when I say I fell in love with her right away:
SHE WAS, and still is STUNNING.
I was visiting her, and her former roomate's college apartment, and
I had never seen anything like it. Mannequins, sketch books, and blast of
color: pink, yellow, and a soft orange to be specific: Were everywhere.
I saw design in the first stages of being created and it was truely awesome.
This meant everything to a gay fashion loving highschool student such as myself...
She inspired me, and is still doing so today.

Below is an interview I had with Lovely and
a few of my favorite designs. ENJOY!

1.) So, When did you realize your love for Fashion?
And what made you want to pursue it as a career?
"I have always loved clothes. It was always an obsession of mine.
My mother wasn't the type of woman who picked out our clothes with matchy-matchy
outfits for school. She always let my sister and I pick whatever we wanted
so I experimented a lot."
(and)
"I was always drawing clothes, but didn't start sewing until after I graduated high school.
I presented my first collection at the University of Michigan fashion show,
and instantly fell in love with creating fashion.
I knew it was all I wanted to do and feel."

2.) What inspires your design more, your personal style,
your enviorment, or a specific lifestyle (Student,Party girl, etc.)?
"When designing, I never go with a theme, or a specific style.
I design from my emotion more than anything.
What you create has to be about what you feel, in my opinion.
Just as any artist, your creation is best reflected by your raw emotions,
uninterrupted by trying to stay within certain parameters.
I let myself express my feelings through my designs.
The more intense my feelings, the more design options I will design."

3.) So, Can you tell me a little about your experience
on "So you wanna be a Designer"?
"It was an eight week competition with six competitors.
Each week we were given a specific design assignment and 52
hours to produce the final looks to be modeled
on the runway in front of a live audience, 3 guest judges
and online viewers; who would score us. The show overall, was an amazing experience.
I pushed myself harder than I think I ever have. Because of the time restraint,
there was no room for errors or confusion, so that definitely added a tremendous
amount of pressure. Also, because I was giving my all in each challenge, I would only
nap for a couple hours in the 2 1/2 day time limit,
which ended up making me a bit delirious lol! "

"I ultimately landed a spot in the final 2, and tied for first place!
However, I ended up taking second place after the tie breaker. And to be honest, as much as I wanted that $20,000 prize, not winning, made me that much more eager to follow my dreams. After the show, I was invited to New York Fashion Week to assist as the creative assistant
to Raul Peneranda, which was a dream come true!"

4.) What's in the future for you, and EverythingLovely? I heard you're pretty busy this season already. That's amazing!
"2011 was a truly eventful year for me. I went in it with little expectations,
just the strong desire to better myself. This year, however, I do have a few plans I am currently
working on my new collection for S/S 2012 which I plan to sell in my online boutique,
as well as a new boutique in Pilsen, I plan to open with my friend,
and fellow contestant on the show, Stephen.
We are keeping the details guarded at the moment,
but I will definitely be giving out more information in early spring!"

"The objective to designing is never to "over think",
simply let your heart speak, and your mind follow."
 - JESSICA LOVELY

My Internet Addiction

Im addicted to a music blog called...
Writer Carlye Wisel and videographer Donald Rasmussen started
the site a while back and I was hooked from the moment I
discovered it. The premise of the site is actually brilliant
and calls for one of those
"DAMN, WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT?" moments.

Well basically they contact their favorite artist/band's and envite
them to perform on their "Big Ugly Yellow Couch" in their brooklyn apartment;
Best part is they actually come!!!

Some of my favorite artist have joined them at their place
to record one of their now famous acoustic sets.

You should deff check out the site!

Model of the Month: Josh Tuckley

D-Magazine, Comme De Garcons, Topman,
Wonderland Mag, & Pop Magazine all huge names correct?
Yes, so it takes a seasoned model to land these jobs correct?
No, only modeling for a year now Josh Tuckley has all of these jobs
under his 28" belt and he's still going strong.

I prefer a certain type of male model.
Sure handsome can get the door opened,
but what keeps you in the room?
I like someone that has personality; personality so strong
they dont need to speak for you to hear them;
they dont need to scream to grab you attention.
They just need to ...
show up and they own the room.
Yes, thats what every model should have,
but male models more so then the women.

STATS:
HEIGHT: 188 - 6' 2"
BUST: 86 - 34"
WAIST: 71 - 28"
HAIR COLOR: BROWN
EYE COLOR: BLUE
JOSH: PERFECT.

Agyness Deyn for SALE?

British it-girl/model Agyness Deyn is selling her Williamsburg,Brooklyn
Apartment, wanna buy it? Yeah, me too loan me 2.5 million dollars!
A lot of people have been critiquing the decor of her Brooklyn abode,
but at the risk of soundng like some artsy-fartsy poser I'm going to go against
those people and say I like it: It has character. I'm tired of seeing the well
Overdone "Modern" look everywhere. I'm sure a girl that has a job as a professional
hanger wearing other peoples creations all the time needed artistic freedom
for once. Sure, its all over the place, but it blends well.
Creativity at its finest.

Below is the apartment/loft space.
If you can afford it I say go for it!

ThePlastiqueLife&Style Awards 2011

I decided to do a little 2011 Life&Style award thing-y for the blog. Best dressed, worst dressed, best surgery, worst reality, etc.
MY fave Celeb StreetStyle of 2011:
Rihanna

Releasing two hit albums, working on a big budget movie due out in 2012, and going on a world tour isn't enough for RiRi she has to look ultra sexy while doing it!

I've been in love with Rihanna's style for so long: I love how young and full of life it is. I have plenty to say, but I talk about her so much on this blog ill just let the pictures speak.

Cuuuuutttteee!

Rihanna is one of the most gorgeous stars of our time & what's amazing about this is she's only 23! She has sooo much time left to entertain us. What's even better is there is soo much time for her and I to become friends! :)

ThePlastiqueLife&Style Awards 2011

I decided to do a little 2011 Life&Style award thing-y for the blog. Best dressed, worst dressed, best surgery, worst reality, etc.
Best Reality Show of 2011:
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

This season started before the first episode even aired do to Taylor's divorce and her husbands suicide following close behind her filling for said divorce.

Aside from Taylor's sad situation we got introduced to Brandi Glanville a "friend" of the housewives that made it known in her first appearence and the events that followed her first day out with the girls that she doesn't take any shit! She stood up to Kyle and Kim who deliberately attacked her parenting skills and called her names. She called Kim a meth addict ( given, that was a little harsh but Kim was obviously inebriated), and got back in Kyles face after both her and her sister step into her personal space. Btw she was right that Kim had a problem she recently checked into rehab. Love Her!

Also Lisa's daughter is getting married and she planning an extravagant wedding for her. Adrianne's basketball team has/is moving to a new city. Her husband also thinks he's a new housewife this season poking his nose in every piece of drama on the show. There was another "friend" of the housewives but she is verrryyy annoying so I chose not to try and remember her name...Burn. lol

The season still isn't over so check out the previous episodes online or on bravo! The new seaspn comes back in January and I think this entry of the housewives franchise might actually give the from runner (Atlanta housewives) a run for her money..they sure have more. Ahah
